After a long dry spell in July 2018, this road and bridge were revealed from beneath the waters of Spelga Dam in the Mourne Mountains. It quickly became a very popular place for a walk, with people fascinated by the sight. I overheard a mother explain to her little daughter that they were here to see the ‘Mermaid Bridge’. How apt, and a most enchanting memory.
