Can this beautiful ancient tree be gone in an act of complete vandalism? This landscape at this point on Hadrian's Wall will never be the same!  I took these photos in May 2019 and always intended to return to take some better shots.  So glad to hear that the National Trust have been able to produce 45 seedling and grafts from the original 300 year old tree.  A large section of the tree will soon be on display nearby in The Sil, Nationational Lanscape Discovery Centre.  In the blink of an eye it could be taken away, be grateful always!
