This is the wonderful "Old Guard" house in Saint-Martin de Ré in France. The house dates back to the 17th century and stands proudly overlooking the busy harbour. It has lost none of its charm and is now a lovely guesthouse. Each little street her has beautiful flowers growing every here and there, including of course, 'les roses tremières' (hollyhocks), such a familiar sight across the region. The town is on the amazing Ile de Ré, in the Charente-Maritime region, off the west coast of France.
